How payouts work
- The pot is every nickel bet on this race. Nothing carries over between races.
- 1st gets 60% of the pot, 2nd 30%, 3rd 10% (rounded down to whole nickels).
- Each prize is split among everyone who bet on that horse, in proportion to their nickels on it. Put 3 on the winner when a friend put 1, and you get ¾ of that prize.
- Shares are rounded down. The leftover nickels, and the prize for any placing horse nobody backed, go to the Community Jar.
- Fixed ante (optional): everyone must bet exactly the same total before the race can start.
- Every horse has the same chance to win. The race uses your browser's secure random generator.
